East Beats West in NABC-Reese's Division I College All-Star Game

NEW ORLEANS – Grant Golden from Richmond earned team MVP honors leading the East to a 115-103 win over the West in the NABC-Reese’s College All-Star Game at the Caesars Superdome.

Golden had 14 points, a team-high tying eight rebounds and four assists in the win.

Kansas State’s Mark Smith earned team MVP honors for the West squad as he finished with 13 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and game-high seven assists.

Tyrese Martin from UConn had game-high 22 points to lead the East while Jeenathan Williams from Buffalo (18), D’Shawn Schwartz from George Mason (15), R.J. Cole from UConn (13) and Alondes Williams from Wake Forest (11) were also in double figures for the East. Brad Davison from Wisconsin had a team-high tying eight rebounds.

Derek St. Hilaire from New Orleans (16), Gabe Brown from Michigan State (14) both scored in double figures while Taz Sherman from West Virginia and E.J. Anosike from Cal State Fullerton both finished with 13 points for the West.

The East jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed. They scored eight straight to take its largest lead of the half 45-34 with five minutes left in the first half with Martin scoring five of the eight points. The East led 55-45 at halftime behind 11 points from Schwartz.

A 14-4 second half run by the East would increase its lead to 85-69 with 11:35 left. The East would lead by at least 10 the rest of the way.

The East shot 55.7 percent (49-88) from the floor and hit seven of 26 from 3-point range while the West was 40 of 79 (50.6 percent) and made 13 of 36 from behind the arc.
