NABC Adds Nate Pomeday to Executive Staff

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Veteran coach and college athletics administrator Nate Pomeday has been named the Associate Executive Director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), it was announced on Friday.

Pomeday brings a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to the NABC. Since 2016, he has served as the Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball at the American Athletic Conference, where he was the primary administrator for men’s basketball operations, including scheduling, officiating, NCAA relationships and the AAC Men’s Basketball Championship.

“I’ve known Nate for approximately 20 years and have watched his development from a young man to an accomplished coach, administrator and father,” said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. “His breadth of experience compliments mine as well as the NABC’s.”

“Nate has a tremendous work ethic along with the ability to analyze problems and come up with creative solutions,” Robinson added. “He will make a fantastic teammate and colleague. We are very fortunate to get him.”

Prior to his role at the AAC, Pomeday spent 13 years in various coaching roles. He was the director of basketball operations and later an assistant coach at Minnesota from 2014-16, and before that spent six years as an assistant coach at Oregon State.

Pomeday was an assistant coach at Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy from 2005-08 and the head coach at Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) from 2000-04.

“I am humbled, honored and very excited to work for the NABC. I want to thank Craig Robinson and NABC President Jamie Dixon for this incredible opportunity to grow the game of basketball and support coaches across all levels,” said Pomeday. “I look forward to cultivating relationships with these leaders and supporting a more significant impact on the communities they serve.”

Pomeday holds both a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master’s degree in sport administration from Northwestern. He was a men’s basketball student-athlete for the Wildcats from 1995-99.
