Education and Networking
The annual NABC Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s Final Four, is the top professional development and networking event in the basketball coaching industry. Most NABC members also have the opportunity to purchase Final Four tickets. In addition, members registered for the Convention will have access to accommodations in the official NABC hotel properties.
Professional Development Series (PDS) Certification
The Professional Development Series (PDS) is a comprehensive continuing education program for basketball coaches of all levels at the NABC Convention. The focus of the program is to develop well-rounded basketball coaches on a professional and personal level. PDS clinics are broken down into three categories: Coaching Development, Personal Development, and Ethics. To become NABC PDS certified, coaches must attend three coaching development clinics and two personal development/ethics clinics during the NABC Convention.
NABC Fall Summit
The NABC Fall Summit is a virtual professional development event for basketball coaches from all levels of the sport. Featuring a diverse lineup of speakers and topics, the Summit is designed to help coaches develop on and off the court. Registration is free for all active NABC members.
NABC Championship Basketball Clinics
NABC Championship Basketball Clinics are a joint initiative between the NABC and Championship Productions that provide coaches at every level of the sport with year-round professional development opportunities. NABC Championship Basketball Clinics are held at various locations across the country in the spring and fall, and feature programming with many of the game’s most decorated coaches. NABC members receive discounted registration to the clinics.
NABC Mentor Circle
The NABC Mentor Circle is a multi-phase mentoring program structured to develop valuable coach-to-coach relationships. Through these mentor-mentee relationships, the program strives to promote the growth of young coaches, increase the pool of qualified candidates, help both the mentor and mentee develop professionally and personally, and foster relationships among coaches across different generations and demographics
Awards and Recognition
The NABC offers numerous awards for its members and their student-athletes. Only NABC members are eligible to nominate, vote on and receive these awards.
Guardians of the Game Pillar Awards are the most prestigious awards presented by the NABC. Member coaches are eligible to receive these Guardians awards in the categories of education, leadership, service, advocacy and inclusion.
NABC Honor Awards are presented to member coaches at significant career milestones, beginning at 300 wins and at each 100 level beyond that.
NABC Coach of the Year Awards are presented on a national basis for two-year colleges, the NAIA, and NCAA Divisions I, II and III. In addition, member coaches in the NCAA divisions are eligible for Coach of the Year awards in each of their NABC districts.
Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Awards are presented to coaches annually for their outstanding contributions to Coaches vs. Cancer.
NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize teams which have a combined 3.0 grade-point or better average for all active members of the roster.
NABC Player Awards are presented annually for a variety of academic and athletic achievements. NABC player awards include the NABC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Pete Newell Big Man of the Year, the NABC Community Assist Team and the NABC Honors Court.
Champions Luncheon honors NABC member coaches who have led their collegiate teams to regular-season conference championships. Each championship coach is recognized individually at the Champions Luncheon at the NABC Convention.
NABC Merit Awards are presented to coaches who have accumulated 15 years of NABC membership.
NABC committees work to advocate for and advance coaches’ interests relative to college basketball legislation and policies. NABC members have the opportunity to serve on various committees, including the NABC Board of Directors; NABC Congress; NABC Committee on Racial Reconciliation; NABC Ad Hoc Committee on College Basketball Issues; NABC Ad Hoc Committee on NCAA Tournaments Selections, Seeding and Bracketing; and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Regional Advisory Committee.

Relation Insurance Service (Camp/Clinic Insurance): Relation Insurance Services tailors its programs to address the needs of amateur and youth sports associations, intercollegiate, and interscholastic organizations. Coverage provided under this program includes important liability protection for the camp or clinic operator, including employees and volunteers, for liability claims arising out of its operations. In addition, the program provides medical payments coverage to the camp or clinic participants.
