KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson has released a statement following the passing of longtime college basketball coach Charles “Lefty” Driesell.
“Lefty Driesell was an iconic figure, and today we join the college basketball community in mourning his passing. Lefty’s ability to elevate programs – he took Davidson, Maryland, James Madison, and Georgia State to the NCAA Tournament – was nearly unmatched, and his development of the first ‘Midnight Madness’ event helped our game reach new heights of popularity. On behalf of the NABC, I offer my deepest condolences to the Driesell family and his countless friends across our sport.”
