KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NABC Ad Hoc Committee on Thursday outlined a series of recommendations to support the 2020-21 college basketball season.
The NABC Ad Hoc Committee is comprised of: Tommy Amaker, Harvard; Jim Boeheim, Syracuse; Tad Boyle, Colorado; John Calipari, Kentucky; Jamie Dixon, TCU; Mark Few, Gonzaga; Tom Izzo, Michigan State; Mike Krzyzewski, Duke; Tubby Smith, High Point; John Thompson III; Roy Williams, North Carolina; and Jay Wright, Villanova.
The committee’s recommendations are as follows:
Decisions regarding the 2020-21 season should first and foremost be determined with the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and respective campus communities as the top priority.
All college basketball stakeholders should operate in collective alignment with the goals of completing a season and providing meaningful experiences for student-athletes.
A national testing and contact tracing protocol implemented and enforced across all Division I member institutions.
The 2020-21 season should start competition on the earliest date that health and safety guidelines deem appropriate and allow for as many non-conference and conference games as possible.
The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee’s process of establishing an NCAA Tournament field based on merits from the current season should accommodate flexibility.
The NABC Ad Hoc Committee continues to collaborate alongside the NCAA in support of the 2020-21 playing season.
