Loyola Duo Claims NABC’s Top NAIA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NABC has honored two members of the national champion Loyola-New Orleans program with its top NAIA awards for the 2021-22 season. Wolf Pack coach Stacy Hollowell has been named the NABC NAIA Coach of the Year, while senior Zach Wrightsil has been selected as the NABC NAIA Player of the Year.

 

Hollowell led Loyola to a 37-1 overall record this season, including a streak of 21-straight wins that culminated in a 71-56 victory over Talladega in the NAIA national championship game. The Wolf Pack also captured the SSAC Tournament title, winning all three games by double digits.

 

Loyola finished the season ranked second in the NAIA in both scoring offense and offensive rebounds per game, and outscored its opponents by an average of 20.7 points per game.

 

Wrightsil, the SSAC Player of the Year, averaged 18.7 points on 62 percent shooting along with 8.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game this year. He finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four assists in the championship game, earning NAIA All-Tournament Team honors.
