NABC Congratulates John Calipari on Earning Public Service Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson issued a statement on Tuesday congratulating Kentucky head coach John Calipari on earning the Jefferson Award for Public Service in Sports by Multiplying Good.

For more than 50 years, Multiplying Good has honored those who put others first. Recipients of the Jefferson Award are empowered to do more, while their stories of extraordinary public service inspire others to action.

Calipari – a member of the NABC Board of Directors – has strived to make a positive impact off the court throughout his career, notably through the launch of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative and various telethons that have collectively raised over $12 million to support victims of natural disasters.

“John Calipari understands the responsibility coaches have to use their influential platforms to serve others,” said Robinson. “His passion for addressing issues ranging from the lack of diversity in college athletics administration to the devastating impact of floods and hurricanes makes him a role model for coaches throughout our profession. On behalf of the NABC, I congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”
