KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson has released a statement following Tuesday’s NCAA announcement of proposed changes to Division I.
“The NABC commends the NCAA and President Charlie Baker on proposing forward-thinking changes to the future structure of Division I. Of particular significance, President Baker’s proposed model for a new Division I subdivision would offer greater flexibility for institutions to further invest in specific sports and athletes at their discretion – an outcome that has long been championed by the NABC and must remain a top NCAA priority. While our review of the strengths and potential challenges of the proposal is just beginning, we appreciate the efforts the NCAA has already taken to engage the NABC in the evaluation process. Moving forward, the NABC looks forward to continuing to provide feedback and perspective on behalf of our member coaches as the review and implementation phases advance.”
