KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Matt Margenthaler, head coach of perennial Division II power Minnesota State, will serve as the President of the NABC Board of Directors for the 2025-26 season. Margenthaler’s term as President will run through the 2026 Men’s Final Four.
Margenthaler has been the head coach at Minnesota State since the 2001-02 season, where he has won over 500 games and reached 14 NCAA Tournaments. Margenthaler’s Mavericks program captured the 2024 Division II national championship, and he was named the NABC Division II Coach of the Year following that season.
Prior to his tenure at Minnesota State – where he is the program’s all-time winningest coach – Margenthaler spent six seasons as an assistant at South Dakota State.
“Matt Margenthaler is a respected voice not just among his Division II coaching peers, but across all levels of basketball,” said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. “It’s imperative that coach perspectives continue to help shape the evolving landscape of our sport, and I’m confident Matt will be an impactful voice on behalf of all NABC members in the coming year.”
Margenthaler first joined the NABC Board of Directors in 2014, and served as its First Vice President last season. He assumes the role of NABC President following the 2024-25 term of Arkansas coach John Calipari.
