KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson has released a statement following the NCAA Division I Council’s approval of a pilot legislative process that will provide select sport oversight committees with enhanced authority to adopt legislation.
“Today’s action from the NCAA Division I Council to approve a pilot program that extends broader authority to sport-specific oversight committees is a positive development for college athletics. The NABC has undertaken extensive advocacy efforts on behalf of our member coaches regarding this topic in recent years. All NCAA sports – men’s basketball included – have unique challenges and opportunities that we believe can be more effectively addressed under a model that allows for sport-specific legislative flexibility and authority. The NABC looks forward to collaborating alongside the NCAA Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee to maximize the impact of this pilot program towards the betterment of our sport and its student-athletes.”
