KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NABC Committee on Racial Reconciliation released the following statement on Thursday.
“Since our founding, the NABC Committee on Racial Reconciliation has been a steadfast advocate of campus diversity. As such, we are disappointed with today’s United States Supreme Court ruling that limits race-conscious holistic admissions practices in higher education. We are proud that the NABC submitted an amicus brief in this case in support of affirmative action, aligning with other briefs from an array of colleges and universities, corporations, labor groups, religious organizations, educational groups, and civic and military entities. Ultimately, we believe diversity and inclusion are core American and higher education values that will transcend any courtroom. College athletic programs have long illustrated the benefits of inclusive educational environments, and we urge all coaches to reaffirm their commitment to championing diversity in their locker rooms and campus communities.”
