KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NABC Executive Director Jim Haney has released the following statement in response to the NCAA Division I Council’s extension of the recruiting dead period through August 31.
“Today’s decision by the NCAA Division I Council to extend the recruiting dead period through August 31 was not surprising given the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, including within college football programs. The NABC’s priority throughout these unprecedented months has always been the wellbeing of student-athletes and coaches, and while we have strived to preserve recruiting opportunities, we’ve also understood that decisions are ultimately subject to the status of the pandemic. We will continue to work alongside the NCAA on identifying potential recruiting opportunities in September and beyond, while also keeping health and safety at the forefront.”
