Education and Networking
NABC Convention
The NABC Convention is the nation’s premier professional development event for basketball coaches. NABC Convention programming includes keynote sessions, Professional Development Series clinics, networking events, the NABC MARKETPLACE trade show, awards ceremonies, and more.
Professional Development Series (PDS) Certification
The Professional Development Series (PDS) is a comprehensive continuing education program for basketball coaches of all levels. PDS Clinics cover a range of coaching topics including Xs & Os, leadership, ethics and more. NABC members can earn PDS certification by attending at least five PDS Clinics at the NABC Convention, or by attending at least five sessions at any NABC Championship Basketball Clinic.
NABC Championship Basketball Clinics
NABC Championship Basketball Clinics are a joint initiative between the NABC and Championship Productions that provide coaches at every level of the sport with year-round professional development opportunities. NABC Championship Basketball Clinics are held at various locations across the country, and feature programming with many of the game’s most decorated coaches. NABC members receive discounted registration to the clinics.
NABC Mentor Circle
The NABC Mentor Circle is a mentoring program structured to develop valuable coach-to-coach relationships. Through these mentor-mentee relationships, the program strives to promote the growth of young coaches, increase the pool of qualified candidates, help both the mentor and mentee develop professionally and personally, and foster relationships among coaches across different generations and demographics

Awards and Recognition
The NABC offers numerous awards for its members and their student-athletes. Only NABC members are eligible to nominate, vote on, and receive these awards.
Guardians of the Game Pillar Awards are presented to members who embody the NABC’s core values of advocacy, leadership, service, education and inclusion.
NABC Coach of the Year Awards are presented on a national basis for high schools, two-year colleges, the NAIA, and NCAA Divisions I, II and III. In addition, member coaches in each of the NCAA divisions are eligible for District Coach of the Year awards.
NABC Special Achievement Awards, which include the NABC Metropolitan Award, NABC Cliff Wells Appreciation Award, and NABC Hillyard Golden Anniversary Award, recognize coaches and contributors for their on and off-court impact on the game of basketball.
NABC Honor Awards are presented to members in recognition of significant win milestones, beginning at 300 career wins and at each 100 level beyond.
NABC Player Awards are presented annually for a variety of academic and athletic achievements. NABC player awards include the NABC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Pete Newell Big Man of the Year, and NABC Honors Court.
Conference Champion Awards honor NABC member head coaches who have led their collegiate teams to regular-season conference championships. Each championship coach is recognized individually at the Champions Brunch at the NABC Convention.
NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize teams that have achieved a combined 3.0 or higher GPA for all active members of the roster.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes college basketball players who excelled in academics during the previous season. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria.
Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Awards are presented to members annually for their outstanding contributions to the Coaches vs. Cancer program.
NABC Merit Awards are presented to coaches who have accumulated 15 years of NABC membership.

Advocacy
NABC committees work to advocate for coaches and advance their interests relative to basketball legislation and policies. The NABC and its committees work closely with the NCAA and other oversight bodies to collaborate on how the sport is governed. NABC members have the opportunity to serve on various committees, which have included the NABC Board of Directors; NABC Congresses; NABC Committee on Racial Reconciliation; NABC Ad Hoc Committee on College Basketball Issues; NABC Assistant Coaches Committee; NABC Division II and Division III All-America Committees; and the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Regional Advisory Committee.
